Precision agriculture and geospatial techniques for sustainable disease control

Abstract The agricultural community is confronted with dual challenges; increasing production of nutritionally dense food and decreasing the impacts these crop systems on land, water, climate. Control plant pathogens will figure prominently in meeting challenges as diseases cause significant yield economic losses to crops responsible for feeding a large portion world population. New approaches technologies enhance sustainability and, importantly, disease control need be developed adopted. By leveraging advanced geoinformatic techniques, advances computing sensing infrastructure (e.g., cloud-based, big data-driven applications) aid monitoring management pesticides biologicals, such cover beneficial microbes, reduce impact cropping environment. This includes geospatial tools being farmer managing system strategies that are more sustainable but increasingly complex. Geoinformatics applications also enlisted speed up germplasm improvement; has enhanced tolerance abiotic stress tune different environmental conditions needed. Finally, techniques allow collaborative framework amongst scientists, policymakers, development, transfer, adoption technologies.
